There are several things to discuss regarding next year and how to better our setup and planning. Please bring your constructive ideas to help us make next year more fun and productive.
Repeater:
We have been using the VE3TOR repeater for our club nets and until recently it has been working quite well. Lately however it has had some issues which leads us to the discussion of installing and using our own repeater which is currently in experimental status. We can discuss this during this meeting. I will play a short audio clip of the repeater breakdown during the meeting. Perhaps some of you may have experience with this problem and can offer a solution.
Upcoming event planning:
There are many things we can plan to do this fall. One thing of which I wasn't aware is that there is a Tank Museum in Oshawa. Here is the link - https://www.ontrmuseum.ca/tankmuseum
Along the lines of the Hamilton Warplane Museum the tank museum is Canada's largest collection of operational military vehicles. Please have a look at their website. This may be a fun nearby club outing. Sept 14 is a special event at the museum which we can discuss on Tuesday.
New Operators:
An interesting article on how new operators feel about ham radio. Let's have a discussion on your thoughts and how to make SARC less boring and high brow etc as the article implies. There is always room to discuss the club and its activities that can welcome new members and promote growth. The (tr)uSDX project generated quite a bit on interest. Perhaps we can do something similar again. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
