SARC Election – hybrid meeting 2026-03-17 (RESCHEDULED)
Hello SARC and friends
I promised and update on the membership and nominations. In light of the progress made in the membership there seems to be a serious commitment to make this club a go. I am all for that and will assist in supporting the transition as much as I am able.
We now have 19 paid members for 2026 which is good news.
According to the information below we require only 3 members on the board to comply. This means only one more person needs to step up to make this club officially a go. Surely out of 19 and hopefully more paid members we can get one more member to want to fulfill the role of secretary / treasurer.
I know this is going to annoy the let's get r done group, of which I am one, however, there is going to be one more week before the election. That means this will be done and dusted on Mar 17th. There now is more than enough time to plan your participation and presence either by zoom or in person to hold the election and gather one more nomination.
I will keep you updated when there are any changes in membership numbers or nominations.
Simply here is the requirement breakdown courtesy of Ray.
1. Membership is required to run for a board position and also to vote.
2. According to the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, a corporation must have at least three (3) directors, but it doesn't specify what they are.
Our bylaws state that the board consists of a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer, and that no member can have more than one position on the board. The bylaws state that vacancies may be filled for the remainder of the term of office by qualified members, at a general meeting called for the purpose of filling the vacancy.
3. Given the requirement under the Act, we need a nomination for either the secretary or the treasurer in order to be in compliance.
There are many of you with opinions how the club moves forward and who is going to move it on. Let's first, through one more treasurer / secretary nomination, get the requirements fulfilled so we have a complete club and fewer complications.
One more week and this is done to the best of our collective ability. Please participate and enjoy the wonderful world of amateur radio through the shared experiences offered by membership in the Scarborough Amateur Radio Club.

The Don Montgomery Community Centre parking lot is accessed by going west on Benjamin Blvd (first city street south of Eglinton off of Midland Avenue). Follow Benjamin to where it makes a 90 degree turning south. Turn north at this junction to get access to the rear parking lot. The meeting room is the Seniors room located on the 2nd floor. An elevator is available.

Membership:
For all those interested in nominating or voting in the up coming SARC Executive elections on March 10th membership is required. The nominal fee is $25.00. This may be paid by either using PAYPAL or through Interac e-transfer. The link to the PAYPAL payment is found on the SARC website.
The second last line on the landing page has the word "membership" highlighted in green. Click on the green link to go to the Join Us page. The Interac e-transfer address is [email protected]. Please use your call sign as the answer to the required security question. You can use "What is my call sign" as the security question prompt. Make sure your call sign is somewhere in the body of the email.

Nominations:
The last line on the landing page has the words "Nomination form" highlighted in green. Click on the green link to go to the Nomination page. Please note some anti-virus applications may get triggered when the page loads. Please proceed to the page it is safe.
You can nominate one position at a time so you must use this form 4 times once for each executive position. (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer)
Please contact the person you are nominating to verify they are open to taking the position if elected. Nominations will close half way through the May 3rd meeting. The nominations will be tallied and presented for voting. Each nominee will be given the opportunity to address the meeting before voting begins.
The voting will follow to elect the new board.
The first field selects the position being nominated. The question marks will show the required information for the Nominee and Nominator fields. All the fields are required as indicated by the red *. Please remember you must go through this process again if you wish to nominate for more than one board member position.
Please show your club support by participating in the next meeting and electing a new board to bring this club forward. I wish to thank everyone who has shown a keen interest in bringing a sleeping giant back to life. Your participation at this time is essential and greatly appreciated. By the way I have paid my dues.
