DESCRIPTION:Hello SARC and Friends \nHappy New Year to everyone with the best wishes for your successes and goals for the upcoming year. \nI am pleased that there has been some excellent ideas posted by several persons such as Paul\, Bert\, Richard\, Rob and even Mary. \nThis meeting is a precursor to a major club meeting where a new executive and direction for SARC will be brought forward. Elections for executive positions (President\, Vice-President\, Secretary and Treasurer) will be held during the meeting following this precursor meeting. Fortunately there has been some interest raised over the last few weeks concerning the upcoming direction of SARC. This is good news in that there is still interest in the club and concerns regarding the management and programs offered by SARC. \nThe renewal application for the room at the Montgomery Centre is being processed by the city and the expectation is that the list of dates for onsite Tuesday meetings will be available this week so an in person meeting can be planned. DESCRIPTION:Hello SARC and Friends \nThe renewal for the Montgomery Centre has been completed and the space is available for club meetings. Therefore this Tuesday will be both an in person and Zoom meeting. \nThe Don Montgomery Community Centre parking lot is accessed by going west on Benjamin Blvd (first city street south of Eglinton off of Midland Avenue). Follow Benjamin to where it makes a 90 degree turn south. A turn north at this junction will provide access to the rear parking lot. The meeting room is the Seniors room located on the 2nd floor. An elevator is available. \n************ \nThis meeting will be dedicated to the election process to determine the new club executive. The executive positions are president\, vice-president\, secretary and treasurer. \nMore detail will be discussed concerning the roles and expectations of these positions during the meeting. The nomination procedure will also be discussed. The elections will be held two weeks following this Tuesday's meeting on March 3 during another hybrid Zoom meeting based on the nominations received. If sufficient nominations are not received then the dissolution of the club will be discussed. \nThe next two meetings are of great importance and the future of the club depends on your participation. There is plenty of time to make your decision on whether you wish to adopt an executive position. DESCRIPTION:Hello SARC and friends \nI promised and update on the membership and nominations. In light of the progress made in the membership there seems to be a serious commitment to make this club a go. I am all for that and will assist in supporting the transition as much as I am able. \nWe now have 19 paid members for 2026 which is good news. \nAccording to the information below we require only 3 members on the board to comply. This means only one more person needs to step up to make this club officially a go. Surely out of 19 and hopefully more paid members we can get one more member to want to fulfill the role of secretary / treasurer. \nI know this is going to annoy the let's get r done group\, of which I am one\, however\, there is going to be one more week before the election. That means this will be done and dusted on Mar 17th. There now is more than enough time to plan your participation and presence either by zoom or in person to hold the election and gather one more nomination. \nI will keep you updated when there are any changes in membership numbers or nominations. \nSimply here is the requirement breakdown courtesy of Ray. \n1. Membership is required to run for a board position and also to vote. \n2. According to the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act\, a corporation must have at least three (3) directors\, but it doesn't specify what they are. \nOur bylaws state that the board consists of a president\, vice-president\, secretary and treasurer\, and that no member can have more than one position on the board. The bylaws state that vacancies may be filled for the remainder of the term of office by qualified members\, at a general meeting called for the purpose of filling the vacancy. \n3. Given the requirement under the Act\, we need a nomination for either the secretary or the treasurer in order to be in compliance. \nThere are many of you with opinions how the club moves forward and who is going to move it on. Let's first\, through one more treasurer / secretary nomination\, get the requirements fulfilled so we have a complete club and fewer complications. \nOne more week and this is done to the best of our collective ability.
