General Meeting (64th Anniversary)
April 26, 2010
This meeting took place at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre.
Vice-President Ralph Muecke VE3VXY called the meeting to order at 7:12 PM.
Award plaques are not ready yet; we will have them for the next meeting on May 10.
Gord VE3CNA thanked Luc VA3LMS and Ralph VE3VXY for their work in converting the 1960s SARC videos to DVD.
Gord is also working on radio history websites covering some of the ham radio organizations that existed in southern Ontario, including the Wireless Association of Ontario, the Radio Society of Ontario, and the Ontario Trilliums. Keith VE3DHL was president and secretary of RSO, and kept 9 records storage boxes of RSO archives. Jim Ashfield VE3FOE has donated a copy of “From Spark to Space”, a book published by the Saskatoon Amateur Radio Club as a Centennial project in 1968.
President Bernadine VE3YDB thanked Gord for his work in the archives. Thanks to members of the repeater and antenna committees, the education and Field Day teams.
This year the Amateur of the Year award goes to Ian VA3IGD, the Jim Hildreth Memorial Award to Nick VE3EBC, and President’s Awards to Luc VA3LMS and Edgar VE3WTR.
Thanks to Christian VA3CEQ for volunteering as the club photographer, and to Dean VA3DBD for volunteering to take on the post of assistant secretary/assistant treasurer.
Bob VE3IEL announced that Joe DiPippo VE3OOU had become a Silent Key.
Bob also attended the memorial service for Bill Cate’s wife Pat, last Saturday.
The memorial service for Clive Sutherland VE3CCY was last Friday.
