This meeting took place at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre.
Vice-President Ralph Muecke VE3VXY called the meeting to order at 7:20 PM.
Bill VE3PA announced that Bill Loucks VE3AR became a Silent Key last Saturday. He was 89. Funeral service will be on Friday at 2 PM and the Turner and Parker Funeral Home, at Bloor and Jane. Bill Loucks and Tom Atkins VE3CDM (also SK) were instrumental in setting up the Defence of Amateur Radio Fund.
Treasurer’s Report: as of March 18 we had $2879.60 in the bank.
Field Day report: deferred to next meeting
Membership: nothing new to report
Education: classes start again in September; discussions under way regarding advanced classes. Tech nights continue on Friday nights.
Repeater: Luc VA3LMS has contract for location at Masaryk Park Homes (Scarborough Golf Club and Lawrence area). Repeater is on 147.000 (no tone). Ralph has a friend who offered to do electrical hookup for free.
MS Walk: 9 SARC members volunteered to participate. Rudie VE3OUA will be walking, and would like someone to walk with him.
Hugh VE3HAG donated a Motorola power supply to the repeater committee.
Rod VE3SOY – question re antenna; has Sinclair 2m antenna. Looking for cash donations for repeater expenses.
Bill VE3PA demonstrated QRP operation with his Buddipole antenna and Elecraft K1 transceiver.
