Scarborough Amateur Radio Club Inc. General Meeting
The meeting was held at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre
in the Seniors’ lounge on April 27, 2009.
Bernadine VE3YDB (President) called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM.
RAC Canada Day contest/picnic:
We had originally planned to set up in the parking lot of the community
centre, but have since learned that the building will be closed and
washroom facilities will not be available on site. Joe VA3JDX suggested
we use Seven Oaks Park at Neilson and Military Trail, as the washrooms
there will be open on July 1 because there is a tennis tournament taking
place the same day.
By a show of hands, the members voted to change the location of the RAC
Canada Day contest to Seven Oaks Park.
Treasurer’s report (Lambert VE3LYP):
As of April 27 we had $2904.51 in the bank.
MS Walk (Bob VE3IEL):
Bob thanked all volunteers who helped with the MS Walk, among them SARC
members Hugh VE3HAG and Ray VE3ZXC.
Anniversary and Awards:
Tonight we celebrated our 63rd anniversary as a club.
President Bernadine VE3YDB presented the following President’s Awards:
– Lambert Philadelphia VE3LYP and Ralph Muecke VE3VXY/VE3CIW for their
dedication and support for our club’s education program.
– Gord Hogarth VE3CNA for his dedication to the maintenance of the club
– Ray Chow VE3ZXC for “going above and beyond”
Bernadine presented the Jim Hildreth Memorial Award to Lambert VE3LYP.
Vice-President Cyril VA3CJE presented the Amateur of the Year Award to Ralph
Raffle – prizes courtesy of Lambert.
The party was a low-key affair with lots of food and conversation.
Ralph brought in a DVD with vintage video from SARC Field Days and club
banquets of the 1960s.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.
