Scarborough Amateur Radio Club Inc. General Meeting
The meeting was held at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre
in the Seniors’ lounge on February 9, 2009.
Bernadine called the meeting to order at 7:20 PM. Welcome to our guest
speakers Jeff and Jordan from the Canadian Red Cross.
Bernadine has spoken with Mark about using the community centre parking
lot on July 1. The building will be closed and there will be no water or
washrooms available. Bernadine asked whether the members were still in
favour of holding the picnic at the community centre. The members
present voted to continue with the plan.
Classes (Ralph/Lambert): we have one new student.
Nets (Bob): VE3RPT was down for a time but is now back up again. TFM
officials have agreed that we can use VE3TWR for our 2m net if VE3RPT is
Treasurer (Lambert): as of today we have $2783.06 in the bank.
On February 16 the community centre will be closed for Family Day. We
were hoping to have Toronto ARES do a presentation for Feb. 23 but have
not heard back from them yet. If we don’t have a speaker for that night,
Bob will bring in a video (Empire of the Air).
Amateur of the Year award: nomination form is available on the website.
Thelma Woodhouse, a long-time past member of SARC, has recently moved
and would like to hear from friends. The club will send a card.
Red Cross: Jeff and Jordan gave an informative presentation about
disaster preparedness. For additional information please contact the
Canadian Red Cross at 416-444-4537.
Peter VE3FJI moved to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 9 PM.
