Scarborough Amateur Radio Club Inc. General Meeting

The meeting was held at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre
in the Seniors’ lounge on November 10, 2008.

Bernadine VE3YDB called the meeting to order at 7:20 PM.

Classes (Ralph):

So far we have one student attending class. Ralph has bought kits at a
discount and would like to start kit building classes.

Bernie VE3OTR is a director at Toronto FM Communications Society. He
says VE3RPT will soon have EchoLink via EchoIRLP. D-STAR and IRLP are
already available. Discussion about QRM on VE3RPT.

Mary Hedges VE3COH, a long time member of the club, became a Silent Key
last week. Mary was the widow of Tom VE3GZV who was a past president.
She was active in the Trilliums and CLARA. Memorial service will be
held on November 15 at MacDougall & Brown Funeral Home.

Show and Tell:

Edgar brought in a vintage Swan 350 transceiver made in 1964 or 1965.
Nick showed a pair of dipoles he is planning to use for fox hunting.

Ralph will post info about RDF kits on the website.

Congratulations to all our winners.

Nick administered the basic exam for our newest member, Peter Burke

Nick asked if anyone was using 900 MHz cordless phones. He has one and
recently discovered pulse-type interference that turned out to be coming
from the new smart hydro meters.

Audrey moved to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 9 PM.
