Scarborough Amateur Radio Club Inc. General Meeting
and 62nd Anniversary Night

The meeting was held at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre in the
Seniors’ lounge on April 28, 2008.

Bernadine VE3YDB called the meeting to order at 7:50 PM.

Bernadine welcomed our guests from the Chimo Amateur Radio Club, including John

Audrey VA3YD is collecting used eyeglasses for the Doctors Lions Club; these
will be sent overseas to cataract and cornea transplant patients.

Bob VE3IEL mentioned that Murray Hedges of the Scarborough Association of
Seniors would like to speak to the club. This group sends volunteers to highway
overpasses in the Scarborough area to honour soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Rudie VE3OUA reminded members about the upcoming CNIB Hamfest on May 24. Anyone
interested in helping out should contact Randy Nelson VE3WRN.

Joe VA3JDX spoke about club badges. The club pays for badges for members who
have not previously had a badge.

Nick VE3EBC thanked the club for sending a card when his father passed away.

Bernadine has spoken with management at Scarborough Town Centre about setting
up a demonstration of amateur radio.

Rod VE3SOY spoke about Field Day preparations. We have secured the Open Acres
site which will be accessible on Friday night.


The 2008 Amateur of the Year is Rod Long, VE3SOY. The Jim Hildreth award goes
to Bill Catlender, VE3ILE.

Bernadine presented certificates for the President’s Award to Joe VA3JDX,
Lambert VE3LYP, Ray VE3ZXC, Bob VE3IEL and Audrey VA3YD.

Break/raffle – 16 prizes were given away.

With business out of the way, the party began. A good time was had by all.
