Scarborough Amateur Radio Club Inc. General Meeting
The meeting was held at the Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre in the
Seniors’ lounge on April 14, 2008.
Ray VE3ZXC called the meeting to order at 7:45 PM. We had a smaller group than
usual as several members were being honoured at the Ontario Volunteer Service
Field Day discussion.
Rod VE3SOY has booked the Open Acres site which will give us more room to
Bob VE3IEL would like to try 20 metres but with a different antenna; last year
he used a horizontal loop which was OK for receiving but not for transmitting.
Gord will provide a display of SARC memorabilia from the archives along with a
video for our anniversary night.
Bob spoke about the MS Super Cities walk that took place on the weekend. Bob
said the walk went well, with participation from 17 operators (mostly from
ARES) and several hundred walkers.
CANWARN training session will be at 9:00 on May 3 at Environment Canada, 4905
50/50 draw: Bob won $5.
Audrey is still collecting used eyeglasses for the Doctors Lions Club to be
sent overseas for patients after cataract or macular degeneration surgery.
Gord VE3CNA attended the funeral of Gord Steane VE3BMG who was president of
SARC when we hosted the ARRL 77 convention.
