Bill Cate VE3HR, SK

Bill Cate VE3HR became a silent key on May 7, 2013. He was 101. Bill was a long-time member of SARC and served as President for several years. He had been a licensed amateur radio operator for almost 90 years. Bill was a dedicated Morse Code (CW) operator and was instrumental in creating the CQ-NR Trophy.

Obituary:
CATE, Bill – Our father passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Whitby, at the age of 101 years. Predeceased by his wife Pat Cate of 70 years. Survived by his daughters Evelyn (David), Irene (Catie), sister Nora Colqhoun and sister-in-law Elsie Trafford. Grandchildren Sarah (Brian), Geoffrey (Sharla) and five great-grandchildren – Bryn, Rhys, Adele, Seth and Gabe. He will be sadly missed by his many nephews, nieces and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, 300 Dundas Street West, Whitby, Ontario.
